What Customers Say About Sony MDR-XD400 Stereo Headphones:

I use them to mainly to watch movies. You get more and better bass. With longer hair it might be different. So the rubber strap at the top gets irritating after a while. But it's still not to stellar. From what i noticed, movie mode give the bass a little less clarity, it mushes it in a way.

To really have the headphones function well would be to plug them into a audio reciever. This comes with a sound decoder so you don't need to go buy a reciever if you don't have one. I live in an apartment so i can't play my surround sound at 1 AM. If you plug them straigt to the tv, then the sound will be like most other headphones. Unless you intently look for differences, you won't be able to tell the difference.

You won't get the bass that you might be looking for. But then again I'm not very hard on my stuff so thats probably a factor. Like near bald short. I must say that they are quite durable. That's about it.If your looking for surround sound quality headphones, then i'd have to recommend the Triton AX Pro 5.1 surround sound headset. The reciever decodes the digital sound which translates to a better sound on the headphones. Also, I found them more comfortable if you angle them back a litte. =P You don't get a surround sound effect.

I've had these for about 1 year now. The bass on these headphones is far superior. It's not sound system dazzling, but for headphones, it's quite impressive.Comfortwise, well, I keep my hair short. Not to metion it leaves a mark akin to bedsheet marks you'd get. But since they're right on your ears, you hear more that you would than if you played them through your speakers at a normal volume. But if your chair has a headrest, that position wont work because the headrest will just push them forward on your head.So overall, if you plan to use them to watch movies, a more normal styled and cheaper headset should suffice. As for the sound quality, that depends on what you plug them into. Otherwise save your money for the trittons.

Well, actually i could, but it may not be in my best interest. The different modes are not to different. But for the most part, they're not to obtrusive and can be tolerated. The trittons has it's own flaws, but the sound quality is far superior to these sonys.

I got these 4 1/2 years ago and they still work great. I was very happy when I bought them and am still happy now. About two years in, the right headphone started cracking a bit when it was turned up loud.

This can be fixed for another 2 hours usually by moving their position a bit forward or backwards on your scalp. And then after about 3.5 years of use, the thin black layer of stuff over the foam ear cushions started cracking and is now breaking apart and sticking to sides of my face after taking them off.So overall, thats about all the negatives I have to say about them. My only complaints are that wearing them for an extended period of time (4-6+ hours) will start to irratate the top of your head where the bands rest.

It wasn't a loud or particularly annoying crackle, but it was noticable. Maybe 6 hours in, the rings around your ears where they rest will start becoming a little sore. Nothing that really bothered me too much though.

They are a good set of headphones and are the absolute best out of any that I have ever owned (not saying too much there). I won't be replacing them until they either die or I can afford a Really Nice set.

I think it is well worth the purchase price. I wear glasses but this set is still very comfortable. It is very light-weight, which certainly helps. The switch for music vs audio for movies appears to my ears to make no difference. Extender cord and plug adapter which comes with it are a useful touch.

Comfort-wise, they look weird but are light and comfortable and you can wear them for hours at a time. Sound quality is excellent for the money - 30 seconds after putting these on I was tracing back through my signal chain fixing problems that I'd never even noticed before with my previous headphones. One note: turn off the "movie" switch and leave it off. Just pretend it isn't there, it doesn't do anything useful and they're great phones without it.

.Good chooise for home, not that good outside home.I use this headphones at home, wen I am at my computer, watching TV or a movie, o when listening music at my stereo. They include a switch, Movie and Music, you choose in which mode you are on, depending what are you listening, a movie or music. The headphones have a nice and comfortable padding for you ears, they don't get hot, neither hurts. The Long cord (plus the extension it has) makes them ideal to watch TV or a movie in you bed. All these features makes them great if you plan to use them at HOME. Now, their huge size makes them to difficult to carry, and they have no noise-cancelling.the noice cancelled is due to music or sound coming out form the headphones plus their huge size around you ears, but its minimal sound what is cancelled.plus you look a little weird (thats a joke).Good chooise for home, not that good outside home.
